Netflix UK top 5 new releases November

Netflix is a streaming service that encourages binge-watching and serious addiction. To keep everyone in the never-ending loop, it adds a few novelties every month. Things stay exciting that way. November might be one of the quieter Netflix months, but there are a few gems in here that might just make your crisp, Autumn days better crisp, Autumn days. So: what’s our pick this November? Disclaimer: not every series was released this exact month, but it’s one of our favourites all the same!

1. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

If you’ve ever watched the ‘90’s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch, you’re probably curious about the creepy new remake, released on October 26. Where the former Sabrina series was somewhat silly, upbeat and sarcastic, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is way darker. Think gothic thriller: a show you could compare to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You get your first taste of this when Sabrina puts a spell on her school principal, whose house she fills with spiders. Why? Because he was being misogynistic (the new Sabrina is a feminist icon). Expect to see things like devil worship, human sacrifice, cannibalism, as well as cliffhangers and plenty of horror elements.

2. House of Cards: Season 6

Get ready for the sixth and final season of House of Cards. The final season was confirmed by Netflix on December 4 and is released on November 2. A few differences compared to the previous seasons: instead of consisting of 13 episodes each, the new season contains only eight. Followers of the #metoo discussion (as well as anyone not living under a rock) will know that former lead actor Kevin Spacey is excluded due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

3. The Sinner Season 2

Were you also gripped by Cora’s story in The Sinner? You’re not alone. The show became a massive summer hit in the US, before winning viewers in the UK over, as well as in large parts of the rest of the world. Cora (Jessica Biel) will sadly no longer be appearing in the series, as detective Ambrose is now the main focus of the story. He travels to his birthplace not far from New York, where he researches the murder of two people. Just like in season 1, we know who the murderer is: the deceased couple’s eleven-year-old son. Season 2 premieres in the UK on November 9.

4. Narcos: Mexico

This popular show has spent three seasons exploring the cocaine war in pre- and post- Pablo Escobar Colombia. This time, the show will take a more in-depth look at the rise of Mexico’s Guadalajara cartel in the 1980s. In season 4, the drug war moves from Columbia to Mexico. Watch how DEA agent Carmenara struggles once he moves with his family from California to Gadalajara for a new post. If you’re a fan of the dramatic portrayal of Pablo Escobar’s rise and fall as one of the biggest drug lords, you need to watch this.

5. The Other Side of the Wind

It’s not all series: we’ve added one film to our list we think you should give a try. The Other Side of the Wind is a 2018 film directed by Orson Welles. The shooting began in 1970, but things grinded to a halt in 1976. After floating in film-space for a few decades, the world premiere took place at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2018. It is released by Netflix on November 2.
