EA SPORTS FC 27 has been out since 25 September 2026, and the first weeks of Ultimate Team are when most FC Points get wasted: a pack here, a panic buy there, and a squad that never quite clicks. The team builder below lets you do the thinking first. Pick one of 13 formations, fill every slot from a database of more than 20,000 players built on EA's official FC 27 ratings, and watch the team rating and chemistry estimate move with every change.

Why plan a squad before you open packs
Coins and FC Points are finite. A planned XI tells you exactly which positions are worth spending on and which are fine with a cheap link player. It also exposes the classic mistakes early: a world-class winger jammed in at full-back, three leagues fighting for chemistry in one midfield, or a striker who only links with himself. Ten minutes in the builder usually saves the price of a pack or two.
How to use it
Choose a formation. Thirteen systems are included, from the 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 through to the 3-4-2-1 and 4-1-2-1-2. Switching formation keeps everyone who still has a natural slot and tells you who no longer fits.
Fill the slots. Tap a position and search by name, club or nation. Each result shows the overall rating, the player's real position and their club, so you can see whether they will link before you add them.
Read the numbers. The bar at the top shows the team rating and the chemistry estimate out of 33 as you go. Your squad is stored in your browser, and “Copy squad” turns it into text for the group chat.
Reading the chemistry estimate
The builder uses a simplified version of the Ultimate Team logic. Players earn points for club, league and nation links, with thresholds at 2, 4 and 7 team-mates from the same club, 3, 5 and 8 from the same league, and 2, 5 and 8 from the same nation. Each player is capped at 3 points and the squad at 33. Anyone played out of position scores nothing, which is exactly where most real-world squads leak chemistry. Treat it as a planning aid rather than a replica of the game engine: it is there to show whether a rebuild is worth your coins.
Which formation suits your style?
4-3-3: width, pressing and plenty of shots. Needs quick wingers and a holding midfielder who covers the space behind them.
4-2-3-1: the balanced pick. Two deeper midfielders protect the back four, the number 10 links play, and you can rotate the attacking three freely.
3-5-2: numbers in midfield and two strikers, at the cost of a lot of running for the wing-backs. Strong if your centre-backs win duels.
4-4-2: the counter-attacking classic: two strikers, two compact banks of four, short distances. The builder shows at once whether your strike pair links through nation or club.
