  • How to cancel Netflix when you’re billed through Apple, Google, Sky, EE
  • What happens to your profiles and watch history after cancelling
  • How to avoid common cancellation mistakes
  • Some extra tips to save you money

How to cancel your subscription directly on Netflix

The most common way to cancel Netflix is through your Netflix Account page. Below are the steps to take on either the website or the app. At the moment, Netflix does not support direct account cancellation on Smart TV.

Steps to cancel Netflix via the website (fastest method)

This works if you subscribed directly through Netflix.
  1. Go to Netflix.com and sign in.
  2. Navigate to the Manage your membership page.
  3. Click Cancel
  4. Confirm by selecting Finish Cancellation.
Done! You’ll receive an email confirming your cancellation. Note that your account stays active until the end of your current billing period.

Steps to cancel Netflix on the app (iOS & Android)

  1. Open the Netflix app.
  2. Tap your profile icon and navigate to Account.
  3. Your browser opens automatically.
  4. Follow the steps described above to cancel Netflix on the website.

How to cancel Netflix when you’re billed through another provider

If your Netflix subscription is managed by a third party (e.g., Google Play, Apple, or your mobile service provider), you’ll need to cancel with that provider, not directly with Netflix. Here’s how it works.

Cancelling Netflix through Apple (iPhone / iPad)

You’ll need to use this method if you subscribed to Netflix via the App Store.
  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your Apple ID and navigate to Subscriptions.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancelling Netflix through Google Play

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon and navigate to Payments & subscriptions.
  3. Go to Subscriptions.
  4. Select Netflix, and then Cancel subscription.

Cancelling Netflix through Sky

If Netflix came bundled with Sky Q / Sky Stream, you’ll need to:
  1. Log in to My Sky, then navigate to Your products
  2. Enter your Sky TV PIN when prompted.
  3. Follow the additional prompts to cancel.
On the Mysky app:
  1. Go to the TV section.
  2. Navigate to My Bill.
  3. Select Marketplace and then View subscriptions.
  4. You should be able to see a cancellation option there.
If you follow the steps above, but don’t see the option to cancel Netflix, you can contact Sky customer service to remove the subscription on your behalf.

Cancelling Netflix through EE or Vodafone

These UK providers often include Netflix in entertainment bundles.

Cancelling Netflix on EE TV

If you have Netflix as an EE TV Extra, you’ll need to cancel your subscription directly on the Netflix website. For this, follow the steps above.

Cancelling Netflix on Vodafone

To cancel a Netflix subscription that’s a part of your Entertainment+ plan:
  1. Visit the Manage subscriptions tab on Subscription+.
  2. Click on the Cancel button next to Netflix.

What to know before you cancel

Keep this in mind when considering cancelling your Netflix plan:
  • You won’t lose access immediately. You can keep streaming until the end of your paid period.
  • Your profiles, watch history, and recommendations stay saved for 24 months, in case you return.
  • You won’t be refunded mid-month, as Netflix charges at the start of each cycle.
  • Deleting your Netflix app or account will not cancel your plan. You’ll need to follow the steps outlined in this article to make sure you don’t continue to be charged.

Some extra tips to save you money

Before you take the big step of cancelling your subscription, consider these helpful tips.
  • You can pause instead of cancelling
Pausing your membership is possible for up to three months.  Note that this option does not apply if you’re paying for your subscription via Direct Debit, a Netflix gift card, or via (some) partners.
  • You can downgrade instead of cancelling
Instead of cancelling, you may want to consider switching to a cheaper plan (like Standard with ads in the UK). This will save you money, without cutting your access to the platform.
  • Cut down on extra account members
If there are extra members included in your subscription, you may be paying more than you should be. Consider removing extra members before cancelling.
  • Cancel before your next billing date
Netflix bills upfront. Cancelling even 1 day late means another full month of charges. To avoid that, time your cancellation well.

Cancel, pause, return?

Cancelling Netflix is straightforward once you know where your billing is handled, and you follow our steps above. If unsure, you can always opt for pausing your subscription instead of cancelling it, and if you change your mind, your data will be stored for 24 months, so you can make a smooth return to the platform.
