The environment is reactive, with hazards like poisonous swamps and lava-filled caves. Each encounter is influenced by this, affecting strategy and play – for example, a dynamic day-to-night cycle provides ever-changing challenges and opportunities, becoming more dangerous as night approaches.

Collaborative Gameplay and Fast-Paced Combat
Elden Ring: Nightreign amps up the slower, strategic combat style of the original Elden Ring. Instead, it focuses on fast-paced, material arts combat styles. The emphasis on agility and rapid strikes results in an action-orientated, exciting experience – still with strategic elements akin to the original. Increasing daring exploration is encouraged thanks to the addition of wall-jumping and removal of fall damage.

While the game can be played solo, there’s potential to play with up to three players, and the game actively encourages teamwork. For example, players can use Runes (the game’s currency) to revive teammates, and collaborate to support each other during encounters.

Continually New Challenges
Players assume the roles of Nightfarers, each with unique abilities. The Nightfarers’ ultimate goal is to confront the Night Queen and end her reign. Each time, players must survive a three-day cycle, embarking through fresh layouts (thanks to procedurally generated maps) and powerful enemies to face challenging, formidable new bosses.
